Got the RCA 58” SMART 4K UHD webOS TV. This is our first 4K television. We previously had a 1080p LED TV and the picture quality between the two was amazing - love the new TV! The RCA TV has HDR and smart TV capability. Overall, I give the TV a 5 stars with my biggest con being the sound quality. My husband who is more of a techie, will give this TV a four star because he always thinks there’s room for improvement and rarely ever gives a five star. See below for more details.

Picture Quality – I cannot say enough about the picture quality on this RCA TV. It is amazing! To test out this feature, my husband streamed the Pixar movie Piper about a sandpiper. See attached pictures. The images are so clear and life-like. My 2-year old daughter actually thought they were real and tried to touch the TV to get to the birds. You can see the individual specks of sand and the clarity of the image is so clear. The HDR feature did kick in when we watched this – you can tell because a blue HDR flashes in the upper right corner of the TV as if it was calibrating the image. The image itself doesn’t change and you only notice that flashing in the corner for a second or two.

The contrast ratio (the difference between the lightest part and darkest part of the TV, eg how dark the blacks look on the screen) on the TV is pretty good. The black is pretty black, but not a true deep black. I can’t really discern the difference but my husband pointed out that if you compare it to the black bezel edging of the TV itself, you can see the difference. But honestly, I can’t tell and it looks dark/black to me. Note – we did have to play with the settings to really get the picture quality we wanted. Our favorite settings are the Sports or Vivid setting but it’s actually on a custom setting right now where we have the brightness lowered. The brightness does goes pretty high but we lowered it because the room the TV is in doesn’t warrant it. Viewing angle is decent.

Sound – The sound on the TV is good, but not great. It is my biggest con on this TV. Given how most TV manufacturers skimp on this feature and most expect you to use a soundbar or speakers, I’m not taking a star away for this. The sound quality is good if you crank it up, but we will be using speakers with this TV as we like the surround sound for movies, etc.

SMART TV – This TV uses the webOS platform to help make your TV a SMART TV and so you can connect to the internet and watch your various streaming services. It is typically found on LG TVs but they license the platform now. WebOS features a pretty simple interface design that is easy to navigate and customize so you have all your favorites at your fingertips like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video, Disney +, etc.

Assembly - The TV itself is not too heavy and is easy to assemble. One person (my husband) is able to carry the TV by itself. Probably best to use 2 people – more so to lift the TV out of the box. Note that you’ll need a screwdriver to add the feet if you’re not hanging it on the wall or a mount. We added the feet. The threading on the part where the screws go into was very difficult to screw in, like you had to try to apply enough pressure so they’d screw in but not so much as to cross-thread the part. My husband would say poor tolerance or fitment.

Other – It has super standard inputs like an HDMI/ARC port, a USB-A port and a earphone jack. The TV has Bluetooth capability which we’ve used to pair headphones with. The remote is ok – made of plastic and super simple. We’ve replaced it with a nicer universal remote so we can really utilize all the smart settings on the TV, etc. The TV is aesthetically nice looking with a simple design and thin bezel. There is a light under the bottom edge of the TV so you can tell if the TV is on or not (blue for on, red for off). Note that you can actually turn this light off if it distracts you.

Overall – I really like the TV and for the price range this TV is in, pretty good bang for the buck. A lot of the features are pretty standard but the picture quality is great and what stands out.
