    Could've been the best monitor.
    4 Stars
    Could've been the best monitor.
The monitor looks great, the white backing is a nice touch.. Had no problems hooking it up, whereas the legs already come installed.. This monitor is huge, so make sure you have alot of desk space.. The room may also get hot, because this monitor draws alot of heat.. So if you have a PC, Console, and monitor on. Just make sure you have air circulation in the room..As for the specs,( VA panel)it's 4k /120hz on console.. 4k/ 144hz on PC. 2 HDMI 2.1, 2 HDMI 2.0.. Diplayport for PC. Overclocking support,VRR support and ALLM (Auto low latency mode) Color depth( 8 bit, 10 bit) can even handle 12 bits per pixel if you have the hardware.. I even have a picture to show it is possible with Full range RGB with croma 4.4.4HDR 10: 400 nits, 600 nits, and up to 1000 nits/ so make sure your room is well lit for your eyes protection. When HDR content is enabled, you cannot access Brightness/ Contrast/ Colors/VividPixel/ ELMB/SYNC/ PIP/Game visuals.. Its on a fixed mode, guess it's the way they intended for HDR to be on this monitor? On console, this is the often complaint where they put you in "Race mode" automatically.Seems to be a hardware limit when it comes to HDR enabled with AMD Freesync Premium Pro enabled..On PC, it's the same. But you can change the Brightness/ Gamma/ Contrast/Colors through your graphics settings. So no big issue there..Did I mention how good 4K with HDR look on this monitor? :)As for the gameplay, it's what you need to stay on top of the leader boards when it comes to competitive FPS games at 120hz/144hz. It even has a good response for 2D fighting games via street fighter 3 third strike..So what keeps this from being the perfect monitor, it's the pixel response.. It lags behind, in so much that it's a blurry mess.. Especially with fast moving objects, or by you panning the screen around.. I'd wish Asus could update this monitor and improve the pixels response times some how.. 😩Just from that alone, I can't say this monitor is worth $1300 when older monitors can handle pixel response better. Like five year old monitors..I guess overtime, you get use to it and don't notice it as much.. So to counter this, Asus has a( ELMB SYNC) which is only available without HDR on and (Variable OD mode ) which is available with HDR on or offTo make the pixel response less blurry.. it goes from 0 to lvl 5.. I find the best result is lvl 2, but its still noticeable..Like I said, could've been the best monitor. Or rather, should've been. Just can't get around that pixel response for the price. Yet I still love this monitor for its 4K, 144hz, 43 inches, it's hidden 12 bit color depth and eye erasing 1000 nits.
