Let me start by saying I own the Apple 4K TV and the Nvidia Shield Pro and without a doubt this is the best streaming player out there!! The Apple TV works well but doesn't pass through Dolby Digital Plus without converting it to PCM which takes a hit on audio quality, Atmos sounds fine, Nvidia Shield Pro can't match frame rate and stutters all the time which is terribly annoying, but the Roku Ultra plays everything perfect and smooth as silk and passes the audio straight through and the picture is absolutely stunning through this box!! Save your money and get this you will not be disappointed!!

The Best!!

Cutting the 'cable connection' in favor of the Roku Ultra is one of the best moves we ever made.  Roku provides the sort of ala carte choices that aren't found anywhere else. My family has found the viewing experience we've gotten with the Roku Ultra truly wonderful.

Wonderful viewing experiences

I've had various Roku models for over 5 years and the Ultra is a significant improvement in performance and functionality.  It is great to have the on/off and volume controls on the Roku remote so I no longer need the TV remote.  I wasn't sure if the extra cost of the Ultra would be justified, but it definitely is.

Great speed and functionality.

We got the Roku Ultra 2020 edition to replace a Roku 3 who's micro SD card slot did not work.  This new roku is extremely fast, the search across all streaming channels is very impressive and works great.  We are most impressed with voice search, it finds specific "Fitness Blender" workouts on youtube that my wife wants to use.  Overall very happy.

Works great - very fast

Does it all! Turned my 2008 DLP TV into a up to day Roku TV. Play your movies off a thumb drive or portable Hard Drive. Stream from almost any company. Enhanced Remote so works even without line of sight. Remote has a headphone jack so it works great for my exercise biking tv watching.  In my opinion, this is the only one to buy!

This IS the ULTRA Roku unit - Does it all!!!!

Only complaint is FF, you have to watch the time which is small, need to have a 30 sec FF button, or let the picture move as you FF. Also the Dolby Atmos is great, but there should be a setting to choose the output, ie PCM, to the AVR. I have had no problems with any of the apps, we have it wired to the router and there is no delay in sound, streaming is smooth and picture is as good or better than the cable from Comcast

Worth it, but..needs some improvement

A little more than a year old.. at first it was good then it started to reboot randomly. It did that for months and then stopped doing that. I thought maybe it was updating and needed to reboot. 
Next problem is losing Wi-Fi connection. Was doing that a couple times a day, then that stopped. Now for the last week it loses connection constantly, about every 3-5 minutes. Rebooting does not help. Resetting no help. Rebooting router no help. I can switch to the TV internet channels, it never loses connection, neither does my iPad. It's the  Roku.
I'd still recommend I guess, what are the other choices?

Pain in the…..

This must be my fifth or sixth Roku device, and by far, the most problematical. It regularly locks up, and had difficulty with USB devices, even ones that it has read successfully before. Overall, I can't recommend it. I have several roku stick devices, but I bought this specifically for use with USB, and at that, it fails miserably.

USB doesn't work reliably

I have owned about 10 Roku products, and live the system. I have 3 Roku sticks now. I bought the Roku Ultra as an upgrade and am highly disappointed and frustrated. It crashes and has to restart at least once a day and sometimes several times T say. And it's 2.5x. The price of other models with no appreciable improvements, and in fact, worse performance.

I love Roku, but not this product

Perhaps I got a dud, but I'm an experienced, longtime Roku user, a tech-savvy person, and this Ultra has been a nightmare from day one. When working (brief spans), an improvement with processing speed. But it immediately refused to save my video resolution setting between power cycles (I don't want to use high-bandwidth UHD max in this setup). Worked around by disabling "autorecovery" in a hidden menu. But the unit now has stopped streaming ANY video content, even though it opens home screen and app main screens as normal. A full factory reset remedied -- for a while, before it reverted to same. Swapped out the (cheap) supplied HDMI cable with several known good ones, to no effect. It's now basically a paperweight. Also spent hours over many days corresponding with tech support, which blamed the content providers and were of ZERO technical assistance beyond, "Try resetting it." Completely frustrating experience; returning.
