This handy little machine exceeded my expectations in every way. I bought 3. At this price, you are ready if one "crashes". When your ice cream is almost done, it goes in reverse, and each time it senses the natural overload from the freezing, it goes reverse, this can last for a couple of minutes, back and forth which expands the ice cream with more air for a creamier experience. This is a value, no matter how you "mix it". Thanks Jeff for coming up with a superior product. Thanks Amazon!
PS, I almost lost my head on this when I had a problem. The paddle locked up, wouldn't turn and I had to empty the contents, clean the container and start again. I thought at first it was a defect, when it was my fault all along. When freezing the bowl (not the contents), make sure you freeze the paddle along with the bowl, assemble quickly, empty your mix into bowl immediately and begin churning. It is meant to give a tight fit, but it will be too tight if you do not freeze the paddle. The clearance is close. This is deliberated to give you the best churn. When the paddle begins to resist, the motor will reverse. This will happen several times, as it should; one way then another. It gives an even better mix. and yummy.
If you are considering purchasing I hope your ice cream maker arrives in perfect condition and you don’t have to deal with the back and forth, but also maybe mentally be prepared that it might be damaged. I also would not wait to put it together and make sure it works probably even if it actually does look ok.

TIP #1: Many comments complain about parts not fitting properly, so here's a tip that worked for us. We found that the parts didn't fit when cold, but they fit perfectly when warm. The problem was that the bowl bottom was deforming slightly in the freezer. Try freezing it upside-down, starting from room temperature. That moves the liquid to the walls and away from the bottom. Then everything fits as well as when it is warm. (The paddle clearances are quite tight, and you might need to push down with light pressure to lock everything in place.)
TIP #2: Harden the ice cream in the freezer over night. Many reviewers refer to "soft serve," but we make solid, consistently scoopable ice cream by giving it time.
TIP #3: Whip the cream. It incorporates even more air than provided by the churning, and the result is much smoother when well frozen and hardened.
