Product Description

Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait kills ants outside so they can't come inside. Ants think this specially formulated bait is food, so they carry it back to the colony to share. Once the queen and other ants eat it, the whole mound dies. Use it on lawns, landscaped areas, or around structures to rid your home of ants. Apply in a one foot band around the perimeter of your home. ant bait

Why is Bait Better?

Bait is considered one of the most effective methods for killing ants. Bait works even when you can't find the nest and unlike contact pesticides, bait can wipe out the entire colony by destroying the queen.

Bait is designed to taste like food, so it is enticing to ants. Once worker ants find the bait, they bring it back to be shared with the queen and the rest of the colony. Once the queen and other ants eat it, the whole mound dies.

As a means to ensure that the bait is shared with all the ants in the colony, there is a delayed reaction before the bait begins to take its full effect and kill all the ants in the colony. Therefore, bait is considered to be more effective than contact killers since bait is shared with the entire colony, while contact killers will only kill ants that come into contact with the product.

With AMDRO, it's game over for ants.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Ant Bait take to work?

The active ingredient in AMDRO works with delayed action, ensuring worker ants have time to share the bait with the colony. Typically, the bait will begin to kill the queen within one week of application and will kill the colony within two weeks of application.

What is the best way to treat for ants I found inside my home?

If there are ants already inside your home, we recommend doing two things. First, use one of the AMDRO Kills Ants products listed for indoor usage above to kill the ants that are already inside. Second, apply AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait granules around the outside of your home to prevent ants from getting inside.

Do I have to reapply granules if it rained after being put down?

For best results, we recommend not applying the product when the ground is soaking wet or when heavy rains are expected.

andro

Are the ant killer granules safe to use in a vegetable garden?

Due to the active ingredients in the granules in our AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait, these items are not permitted for use in vegetable gardens. Therefore, vegetable gardens are not an application site where these products can be used. However, we would recommend using any of the Sevin Bug Killer items in your vegetable garden.

Is AMDRO safe to use around pets?

While instructions vary by product, it is recommended that you do not apply the product while pets are in the treatment area. However, you can let your pets back onto treated areas once the dust has settled.

Is AMDRO safe to use around livestock?

After applying AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait, we recommend that you do not graze or feed treated lawn or sod clippings to livestock.

Working great so far!!

Working great so far!!
Love this stuff. I’m steadily knocking down the massive (FL) fire ant colonies in an approximately 1 acre area around our house. I ignored the label’s instructions to use it as a perimeter guard (seems inefficient to be honest), and instead sprinkled liberally around individual piles. The results are pretty impressive! This bait took down a huge colony that was occupying the whole length of our patio deck drain.. in the space of a couple days. I’ve included a photo of a former huge, flat colony that is now just a pile of dirt. Also pictured: a live colony, freshly treated, not putting my foot in it for obvious reasons but included for scale. I am confident it too will be just dirt in a day or two.I’m about 2/3 of the way through my second 24 oz jug.. what seems to work in my experience: the bait should remain dry. Apply in late morning after dew has dried, ideally when rain is not forecast in the next 24 hours. It seems more effective to avoid agitating the colony or smashing up the pile — you need the worker ants to feed the poison to their queen, and they’ll do this faster if they’re focused on calmly gathering food instead of defending the nest or rebuilding collapsed tunnels. Be patient, check the piles the next day (I was thinking those little lawn flags would make keeping track of them easier), and apply a bit of fresh bait if there’s still ant activity (i.e. they swarm out of a hole poked in the hill). Even with colonies that are still live, I’ve noticed the 2nd day response is dramatically less, and often you can spot dead ants on and around the hill.As for long term use — I feel all right about using this bait in areas that will host free-range chickens in a few weeks. I wouldn’t trust it in active pastures, but it does seem to dissolve fairly quickly with rain and dew. I have yet to find a pile that is totally immune, but I do wonder if rotating to another bait every other year or so would help with any colonies that don’t like or are resistant to this one. Who knows! I’m happy to update with my findings in a few years, if I’m reminded. :) For now, I’ll stick to this one and give my sincere thanks to Amdro (especially on behalf of my poor ankles). Best of luck to everyone else in this painful, itchy battle.
