How To Prepare A Cup Of Coffee For Your Breakfast ?
GEVI US LLC
Product Description
Glad I received such a great machine, but how should I start using it?
1-Make sure the accessories are complete.
2-Check if the machine is in good condition.
3-Remove the rubber stopper of under water tank.
4-Clean the machine according to the section in the manual.
5-Use functions according to the instructions.
I'm using this espresso machine for the first time, do you have any good advice on how to make a good espresso?
1-Variety of coffee: The darker the roast, the better.
2-Thickness of powder: If powder is too coarse, the extraction will very fast and no crema.
3-Amount of powder: Add until the MAX line.
4-Strength of tamping: Use greater strength to compact.
When I used the milk froth function, I found that the steam was very weak. Has anyone dealt with this problem?
The outlet of the steam pipe may be blocked:
Step1-Ensure the Steam knob is in START/STOP position.
Step2-Reset the FROTHING Button to READY state.
Step3-Insert a pin up the nozzle hole and remove.
Step4-Run Steam through the wand for around 20s.
Today, the espresso machine didn't come out the coffee suddenly. How to fix it?
We recommend that you follow the instructions to make a Perfect Espresso Coffee:
Choose fine powder, add sufficient amount to the MAX line, and tamp with greater force, so the coffee that comes out is good with rich crema.
I find it a little laborious to insert the portafilter, is this normal?
Yes, it takes force to install the portafilter. This is to prevent water or coffee from leaking through the portafilter. After using for a period of time, the portafilter installation will be smoother without too much force .

I have since become somewhat of an expert. It did take me a little while, however after watching some videos I learned how to froth the milk properly. I use a 12oz pitcher with about 100ml of milk. 2% works for me as well. I use this also to froth some milk to top off my daughters hot cocoa.
The unit is easy for beginners to master as both the single, and double baskets are double walled. A bit of research will reveal what this means however it basically makes it easier to create a consistent cup of espresso. Because of this the unit also makes nice cups of loose leaf tea. I use the double cup and fill it about 1/2 and get about 3 6oz cups from this before it gets weak. It's also nice to have a pitcher of water on the back of the unit, rather than adding water for each cup.
I have to say the cup warmer is a joke. Not gonna warm a cup anywhere close to the point where it would make any difference. Another issue is the vibration from the water pump increases the noise volume and can cause your cup to migrate across the dispenser plate. To solve this I placed a sorbothane mat 12x6" under the unit which reduced both noise and vibration. The unit should come from the factory with vibration absorbing pads installed. The grate does rattle as well, so I put some sorbothane between the tray and unit. Also noticed that it has to seat properly as well. Sometimes it looks seated but rattles a bit still.
Bottom line: EXCELLENT machine with a couple caveats:
1) take off the aerated pannarello wand cover immediately and discard unless you like soap suds foam (yuck!) as seen in the first picture. After removing the aerated wand cover, the foaming wand makes excellent microfoam (second picture).
2) machine has classic Italian styling and lines, but is likely made in China, as the water tank / coffee / foam has significant odor and flavor issues out of the box. The bad flavor created by this machine initially was completely eliminated after I washed the water tank several times in soapy water and ran the system through a rinse cycle a couple times.
3) Instructions say to make foamed milk first, and then espresso, which makes no sense to me in terms of temperature staging (espresso is made with lower temperature than foam) and I think produced burnt tasting espresso, so I make the espresso first, and then foam the milk. Problem solved.
4) don't overthink this machine. It works great without you having to manage everything (unlike the DeLonghi EC155 that this replaced). At first I didn't like the loss of some controls, but soon realized how much easier it made everything.
PROS:
1) 20 bar pump makes GORGEOUS and copious crema every time
2) love the 2 shot button; makes it very easy to create the perfect amount of espresso every time
3) Very cute machine. Great gloss white color and small footprint. Plastic body feels a little cheap and brittle, but great aesthetics and clever engineering design of water tank and overflow tray.
4) Pressure venting into overflow tray is smart, but means you have to empty the tray almost every time.
5) Cleaning the portafilter is super easy: just rinse it out; no need to remove basket from the portafilter handle
6) to me, there is less than ideal frothing control as this unit lacks a dial to control the flow and force of the steam; the steam wand is either on full blast, or off and decompressed.
I bough this to replace my 3rd DeLonghi EC155 15 Bar espresso machine in 7 years due to repeated failures of the DeLonghi machine's seals, valves, and pumps. Hoping this one lasts longer!
