I have a (basic) background in college chemistry and have followed this company since its inception. In C-school I was disheartened by how many companies made promises that the chemistry of their products proved simply untrue &/or impossible.
And then I came upon an article in onse of the trade magazines about Olaplex. I investigated the chemistry (available through OSHA) and wouldn’t you know, I was intrigued by how remarkable, justifiable and feasible their claims were.
It was not yet on the market, so I (impatiently) waited. As it happens, I was graduating as the product was being released. A decade on, Olaplex continues to impress. I am a long-hair advocate and Olaplex has allowed me and my customers to enjoy processes that would not have been possible without it. It has repaired and protected lengths which other stylists have advised cutting off. Whether you are a professional or not, please do your hair a favor and repair, protect & nurture it with this amazing product! One last thing-other companies are jumping on the bandwagon and claim to either be better or at least the same. This company owns the patent for its chemistry. There is no equal.
. While it left my locks feeling smoother and shinier, the cost is hard to swallow.
**The good:** This conditioner delivers on its promises. Hair feels *noticeably* softer and frizz-free, and the shine is undeniable. Plus, it detangles like a dream. Plus, it's good for pretty much any hair type, which is a bonus.
**The bad:** Buckle up for the sticker shock. This stuff ain't cheap. Even the small bottle is pricey, and larger sizes will make your wallet weep. And while it does a great job, the results weren't mind-blowing compared to much cheaper conditioners.
**The verdict:** If you're a haircare enthusiast with money to burn, Olaplex No. 5 is a luxurious treat. But for those on a budget, there are equally effective (and more affordable) options out there.
**Final rating:** 4/5 stars (minus one for the price)
