PROFILE PHOTOS WITHIN GROUP CHATS

In October, we posted an article where we announced a new feature under development on WhatsApp Desktop beta: the ability to view profile photos within group chats.. In fact, WhatsApp planned to introduce this feature on Desktop and iOS beta to help group members recognize other people in their groups better. This feature has been released on iOS after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70 update and it is finally available to some beta testers that may get it after updating to the latest WhatsApp Desktop beta:

As you can see in this screenshot, opening a group chat is the best way to discover if the feature is already enabled for your WhatsApp account. As always, you need to wait for a new update if the feature is not available for your account so if profile icons don’t show up next to chat bubbles.

As we explained in our previous article, if a group member didn’t set up a profile photo or it is hidden due to their privacy settings, the default profile icon shows up and this icon is tinted by using the same color as the contact name. This feature will help us identify group members for which we don’t have the phone number or when they have the same name.

This feature has been released to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2245.3 update and it is rolling out to more accounts over the coming days. Note that the same feature will be also released on WhatsApp beta for Android in the future: as always, an article will be available on this website where there is news.
